Current Fashion Trends

A key trend for Spring/Summer 11

After seeing the newly released Black Swan in which a production of Swan Lake is played out by Natalie Portman, Mila Kunis and Vincent Kassel. Nina played by Portman is portrayed as the perfect White Swan whilst Lily played by Kunis is the perfect fit for the Black Swan. But as the the two actresses play out for role of the Queen Swan Nina finds a dark side to herself.

Now the costumes have been credited to Amy Wescott who created highly individual looks whilst keeping the movie’s costumes true to the ballet world. We have all found ourselves wanting to be ballerinas at one point and this new hit for the up coming season will allow us to live this dream. I have researched further in to see what other designers have picked up on the ballet theme and have discovered a designer named David Koma who has hit the certain ballerina trend with his S/S 11 collection.

This nude and ballet trend has been channelled at Chloe…

And Erdem….

New Current Obsession

Topshop beaded floral frock.

Grazia named it in their fashion charts at No.6 and I as soon as I saw this dress I was in love. The dress is made to flatter figures as it has buttons to pull it in at the back, creating a nipped in waist. With sweetheart neckline this dress shows just enough of the decolletage, giving it a sexy shape also.

People say that designers are copied by high street, I think that high street shop Topshop just does their research and gets it bang on 80% of the time, not to mention they have their own label, Unique anyway. Its always good as a student to find a dress you’ve seen on the runway at high street prices though. Take for example this Prada.

And now look at this Topshop version..

At £70 you wouldn’t mind paying something as little to look that little bit more special…now would you?
