It’s all over for Oprah!

Oprah scored another coup on Wednesdays, ‘The Oprah Winfrey Show.’ As it was one of her last shows Oprah dedicated it to Ralph Lauren, who gave his first television interview in 20 years. It was also the first time camera crews has access into the designer’s RRL Ranch in Telluride, CO. Winfrey and Lauren rode around the ranch in Lauren’s vintage 1948 Jeep, the pair took a look at his antique-filled tepees, whilst talking about his career and future.

Winfrey also mentioned Ralph’s children David and Dylan who are both getting married this year. Dylan – who is set to marry hedge fund manager Paul Arrouet next month – revealed she is delighted with her father’s efforts on the design of her wedding dress.

“I had to do something that was better than ever before,” Lauren said. “When you do
something for your family or your daughter, I mean it’s the only daughter I have – beautiful girl. I want to just give her something that she’d really treasure and give her something that would be really amazing. I want her to feel fantastic.”

It’s not just profit…. It’s M&S profit!

Marks & Spencer reported its first set of full-year results since Marc Bolland took over as chief executive today, and pretty impressive they were too; the high street giant saw profits jump 13% to £714m in the year to April 2, with revenues up 4% to £9.7bn.

“We did this by offering customers great quality and value, and more choice through innovation.”
Bolland increased market share across both Marks & Spencer’s main divisions by improving presentation of clothing ranges and adding new food ranges.

He’s also increased advertising with the ‘Only at Your M&S’ 2011 campaign, featuring Dannii Minogue, Jamie Redknapp, V V Brown, Twiggy, Lisa Snowdon and Ana Beatriz Barros.

Bianca Jagger: a very modern influence

This season the 70s rules. From the midi-length chiffon skirts du jour, to the sudden revival of the wide legged trouser, it seems the fashion world has whole heartedly embraced this period in history…right down to the very last floppy brimmed hat.

It’s hard to envisage the 70s without immediately thinking Bianca Jagger. Wife of Rolling Stones frontman Mick and true icon of the decade, Bianca not only encapsulated 70s style, but also played her part in creating it.

Both Mick and Bianca were at the opening of the now legendary disco, Studio 54, along with hordes of celebrities such as Liza Minelli, Halston, Brooke Shields and Michael Jackson. Just a month later, Bianca chose to host her 30th birthday at the club, famously entering on a white horse to possibly one of the most chic and fabulous parties of all time.

A great part of Jagger’s style was its fluidity; long, silk dresses, many of them halterneck or split to the navel, mixed with sexy, draping wide-legged trouser suits. And of course; THAT wedding dress

Her style was emulated everywhere on the Spring/Summer 2011 catwalks, whether glamourous and colourful at Marc Jacobs…

sexy, printed and sheer at Emilio Pucci…

or paired down and chic Derek Lam…

And who are the modern icons for this trend? Well, the white-shirt-denim-flares look has been seen on many a Hollywood star — wide legged, high waisted trousers being the most universally flattering incarnation of the decade. The best, though, for sheer understated glamour, must go to the ultimate Yummy Mummy Elle MacPherson, who rocks the “just got out of bed” 70s icon look with unbeatable flare!

“It was a perfect day”

Sob….the amazing Caleb Followill is now off the market…but what a beautiful couple and what a beautiful dress. Followill has married his Victorias Secret model Lily Aldridge in a private ceremony in California with only close family and friends. Lily wore a strapless Vera Wang gown with layers of chantilly and corded lace applique with a raw edge swirling chiffon detail at the back and Caleb a smart Gucci suit.

Jealous…moi? Never! All Im saying is I plan to be at the next Coachella festival to bag my own rocker next year, see you there!

Its all white on the night!

And so the 64th Cannes Film Festival 2011 has kicked off hosted by Melanie Laurent.

The expectations are always great for this festival and we at home were not disappointed. Many of the guests certainly enjoyed the warm weather and opted for light brighter clothes and what a treat for the eyes it has been already! Seeing these lovely ladies has only got me excited for my own holidays. With many of the dresses varying in revealing figure hugging, floaty, casual, floor length, lacy styles and much more they were all certainly exquisite.

Take me to the beach!

Whenever I walk or ride the bus past these new images from the H&M summer campaign, (and that’s a LOT; they’re absolutely everywhere at the moment) they never fail to put a smile on my face.

With the swathes of bright blue water, tanned skin and pretty fabulous bikinis on offer, it’s hard not to wistfully imagine the Summer when exam woes and grey Manchester skies will – hopefully – be long gone. Plus it’s all shot by super photographer Patrick Demarchelier. What’s not to love about that?
